An Italian Meal For The Week
Wednesday December 17, 2008
With the holidays (and holiday meals) rapidly nearing, this is not a week to eat heavily. Quite the contrary, and I might be tempted to make a one-course meal featuring something along the lines of Linguine all'Arancia, linguini (spaghettini will also work well, as might bowties) seasoned with a deft orange and fillet of sole sauce.
With the proteins and carbohydrates thus taken care of, I'd think about a tossed green salad seasoned with extravirgin olive oil, white wine vinegar, and salt, crusty bread to mop up the drippings, and a bottle of white wine, perhaps a Falanghina or a Fiano di Avellino.
Dessert? There will be many next week, so for now an orange or a couple of clementines, which are very good this year.
