String Beans? Graziella's Stew!
Thursday July 17, 2008
The markets are full of string beans now, and while it is true that one can find them year round, those that ripen naturally in the summer have a richness of flavor that just doesn't develop in a hothouse or freezer bin. One of the nicest things to do with them is make my Mother-In-Law's string bean and beef stew. No matter how much she makes, the pot is always empty by the end of the meal. And yes, the kids do argue over who gets the last spoonful (of green string beans!).
