Question Number 7

Olive oil seasoned with herbs?
No; this is an American thing, and the first time my wife Italian encountered it, in a restaurant outside Philadelphia 10 years ago, she found it quite odd. Since then the phenomenon has begun to creep into Italy, and I saw the waiters at an elegant restaurant in Torgiano (Umbria) offering olive oil to their American clients. None for the Italians, and since I spoke thick Florentine Italian throughout the meal they didn't offer it to me.
