The Wine of the Week:
Moris Farm Monteregio di Massa Marittima DOC
2000
Deep cherry ruby with white rim. The bouquet is fresh, with pleasing floral accents, in particular cherry blossoms and violets, with cherry fruit to support all, and underlying berry fruit jam. The sort of thing one can sniff and smile. On the palate it's medium bodied and very smooth, with cherry and plum fruit supported by deft tannins that gain definition from a slight burr; the finish is more of the same, with it all gradually fading over quite an interval. An elegant, pleasing wine that will work quite nicely with meat-based pasta dishes, including baked or stuffed pasta, and also with lighter red meats off the grill. Poultry too. Well worth seeking out.
