Refreshing in Summer and Winter

By Kyle Phillips, About.com

Lemons are, after oranges, the most popular citrus fruit grown in Italy. However, unlike oranges, which people mostly eat, they are used almost exclusively as an ingredient or flavoring. While some gourmands frown at squeezing a lemon over fried foods, e.g. veal cutlets or fish -- they say it masks the flavor of the food -- I find a little freshly squeezed lemon to be quite refreshing, especially on a hot day. There are other things too, including Limoncello...

Lemon Ice

Simplicity in itself. And wonderful on a hot day!

Agrumino

A liqueur made with a combination of citrus fruit. Quite nice after dinner, or over ice cream.

Limoncello Cream

People have asked me how long this creamy lemony liqueur keeps. I don't know, because the bottle goes very fast.

Ideally this is made using the lemons that grow on the slopes overlooking the sea in Sorrento. But good lemons from anywhere will give good results.
